I didn't post much these past few months. Part of that was school, which, Cal reminded me, can be hard. Especially when expectations remain high into the grading of finals. Arg.
In other news today (technically yesterday, but I'm still awake because finals week borked my sleep schedule, and I'm listening to 80s music, which should just stand as an excuse for anything but really is a good excuse because it's upbeat and addictive) was my fifth anniversary with Dakota. Which is weird. That's half a decade. We barely got to see each other at all today, though, because he had finals from 8:00 AM until 9:00 PM (obviously not that entire time; he had breaks between the three finals), which is not conducive to romantic dates. It is conducive to giving each other a big, tired hug and saying "I AM SO FREAKING GLAD FINALS ARE OVER!!!" His language may have been more salty than mine. We're going to go on our traditional date tomorrow (a movie followed by dinner and a stroll through downtown Walnut Creek), which is nice because it has been since St Valentine's Day that we've gone on a proper date (well, technically we went on a double date with some of his friends from school a couple of weeks ago, but at this point that doesn't feel like a date-date). We already know we'll either go to the usual Chinese or Indian place. Probably the Chinese place. I'll get the orange chicken; he'll get the Szechuan beef; we'll share a pot of genmaicha tea, and the cups will warm our hands after we've walked along in the cold. During dinner we'll discuss the film we just watched (this is why we usually don't pick stereotypical date movies). We'll eat our fill and go on a walk ending at a fountain with lions on it near a department store and a maternity store's shop window. Despite being very predictable, it's a nice little tradition. We usually do it either in December or in February, sometimes both. I'm already craving the orange chicken.
